Biography
Olivia DeScala is an Associate Attorney representing public and private sector employers of various sizes across a wide range of industries. Olivia helps employers navigate employment discrimination and retaliation claims, starting with designing and implementing effective policies to mitigate claims, to defending against Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charges, to mediating and arbitrating claims, to litigating claims in state and federal court. Olivia also drafts and revises handbooks, manuals, settlement and release agreements, and employee and independent contractor agreements.
Olivia graduated cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2022. While in law school, Olivia earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award® in four classes: Employment Discrimination, FinTech Law and Policy, Mindfulness and the Legal Profession, and Religion and the Constitution. Additionally, Olivia helped edit the Journal of Technology Law & Policy and was named the March 2021 Editor of the Month. In 2022, the Labor & Employment Law Section of the Florida Bar selected Olivia as one of the few students to receive the annual Florida Bar Outstanding Labor and Employment Law Student Scholarship. Olivia graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tampa in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.
Olivia grew up in Flemington, New Jersey. She enjoys learning about how technology and law intersect, particularly with respect to the role of AI, social media, and remote work in the employment arena.
