TAMPA, FL – Labor and employment law firm Johnson Jackson PLLC is pleased to announce Founding Shareholder, Erin Jackson, has been awarded the 2022 George C. Carr Memorial Award by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (TBCFBA). In addition, attorney Meaghan Maus has received the TBCFBA 2022 Young Lawyers Division Member of the Year Award. Both awards were handed out at the organization’s Annual Luncheon on December 6th.
The George C. Carr Memorial Award, named after United States District Court Chief Judge George C. Carr, recognizes excellence in federal practice and distinguished service to the Federal Bar Association. It is presented annually to a lawyer who exemplifies Judge Carr’s characteristics of common sense, integrity, and service, as well as a lawyer who has made significant contributions to the Federal Bar Association.
“Over the years, Erin has contributed greatly to the Chapter’s programming and community outreach,” says Kevin Johnson, Johnson Jackson Founding Shareholder. “In 2015, Erin and Katherine Yanes created the Chapter's Staying in the Game program focused on the advancement and retention of women and diverse lawyers. The program is now in its 8th year and has been so well received that it was launched on a national scale in 2022. Erin was also integral in planning the FBA's National Convention here in Tampa in 2019, which was attended by practitioners and judges from over 40 states. Her commitment to the organization is exemplary, and this recognition for her is well-deserved.”
“I am so grateful to the TBCFBA for this tremendous honor,” says Jackson of receiving the Carr Award. “This organization and the friends that I’ve made through the opportunity to serve have had a substantial impact and influence on my career. It is an absolute privilege to work with our Board and our members as we continue to engage in community outreach and top-notch programming to support the needs and interests of federal practitioners and the federal judiciary.”
The Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Member of the Year Award recognizes someone who has gone above and beyond for the YLD Committee and is selected by the Committee’s co-chairs. In 2022, Maus planned two events for the organization, including a brand-new community service event, as well as co-chairing the Staying in the Game program.
“I am surprised and honored to have received this award, as there are many other young lawyers who have given their time and energy to this organization,” Maus said of receiving the Young Lawyers Division Award. “I am so thankful to have been encouraged by our firm’s Shareholders to get involved in this wonderful organization. I have loved planning and participating in events that directly give back to our local community and look forward to taking part in many more.”
Maus has been a member of the TBCFBA YLD Committee for the past two years. Jackson has been a member of the TBCFBA for nine years, most recently serving as Chapter President in 2021.
